BIRTHDAY OUTFIT

Outfit details: Skirt: Forever 21 (similar) / Top: H&M (similar) / Shoes: Christian Louboutin Beauty 100 leather pumps (sold out) / Necklace: House of Harlow 1960 / Earrings: House of Harlow 1960 / Bracelet: gift / Watch: Michael Kors / Clutch: Express (old)

I am BACK!! Seems like forever since I've blogged, but I promise I am back this time :-) A combination of work and personal issues has kept me so busy that I had very little time to take photos for my blog. These photos were taken about a month ago on my birthday, my husband got me this lovely cake, shaped like a vintage hat box and he took me to a great dinner. I decided to keep my outfit neutral with a dark lip because I've been really digging a dark lip lately. I hope you're all having a great week, I am thinking of doing a fun giveaway soon, so stay tuned xoxo

SHADES OF BLUE & YELLOW

Outfit details: Dress (Similar) Love THIS one / Shoes: BCBGeneration / Necklace: Gift from Mom (Love it in THIS color) / Handbag: Michael Kors Selma

Who doesn't love a little shift dress they can throw on for any occasion and with a little added accessories you're set? I love this dress, it's so simple and easy to wear and the material is so nice and light. It's very low maintenance and it can be dressed up or down and still be a stunner. I get so many compliments every time I wear this dress, I usually wear it with understated jewelry but this time I decided to wear this gorgeous oversized floral necklace that I begged my Mom for, for almost a year until she finally relented and let me have it :-) I absolutely love this combo.

CUT OUT BACK

Outfit details: Dress: Asos (Sold out) (Love THIS) / Shoes: Zara (similar) / Necklace: House of Harlow / Earrings: House of Harlow / Clutch: Aldo / Watch: Michael Kors

I am the kind of girl that will get dressed up to go to the grocery store, I am such a girly girl! I love getting dolled up every chance I get. However, sometimes there's not much going on here so all my pretty dresses don't get worn as much as I would like. I am always happy whenever something comes up that requires me to wear something a bit fancy. I wore this outfit to a girls nights out when my best friend was visiting, and since it was still the holidays I decided that red and green was fitting :-)

ABSTRACT + WHITE

When I'm looking for something easy to wear to work, my go to outfit is a dress sometimes paired with a cardigan or a blazer. This dress is quite old but still one of my favorites, I purchased it from the sales rack at Forever 21 in the fall of 2009 and wore it to my Athletics Department graduation party in December 2009, since then I have worn it countless times and it has never failed me. Considering the quality of Forever 21's clothes can be hit or miss, this one is definitely a hit! I love the abstract brush stroke looking print on this dress, it's colorful and bright and it's all me.

STRIPES & BOWS

Every time my mom buys me clothes especially dresses her usual lingo is "I saw this dress and it looked just like you, so I had to get it," when I visited her and she gave me this dress I was so excited to wear it that I actually wore it to work when I returned from my vacation. I love this dress so much, the inverted pleats, the stripes, the fit, it epitomizes feminine. I have paired this dress with pumps, flats and sandals and it's always a hit. It is quite possibly one of my favorite dresses. For this outfit I decided to play up the "girliness" of this dress by pairing stripes with bows and adding pops of colors.

THE PERFECT LITTLE SHIFT DRESS

Shift dresses are so versatile and comfortable, it's one of those dresses that needs very little thought to put together and can be worn to any occasion. My first real memory of this style of dress was from a photo of my late Great grandma standing outside Disney world in the mid 1980's, it was beige with little flowers all over it. While I was fascinated by the castle in the photo, I fell in love with the dress, it was beautiful. My favorite childhood shift dress was purple with bold green, yellow and pink stripes at the bottom, it was my rainbow dress and I vividly remember wearing it to carnival and pretty much living it after that.

What makes the shift dress so special is the fact that it is universally flattering, the absence of a defined waist makes it perfect for women of all ages, sizes and shapes. The shift dress is timeless and classic and one that would never go out of style and we can thank Lilly Pulitzer for that.

When I saw this little shift dress at H&M I fell in love with the print and I knew it had to come back to the islands with me, and since then it has been a staple in my closet. All my shift dresses but one, is covered some fancy print. Anyone else loves shift dresses?

PEPLUM AND FLORAL

I hope you all had a fabulous weekend, I got lots of rest, and baked some delicious banana bread with my friend Marianne.

I am not one to plan my outfit the night before because I usually change my mind in the morning. I like waking up and putting my clothes together depending on my mood. And this morning was a peplum and floral kind of morning. The peplum trend is another one that's been making the rounds in the form of skirts, tops and dresses for the past few seasons, and it's another one I've embraced. A peplum top can be styled many ways; with the addition of a few key pieces, such as statement jewelry and a belt you can have a dressed up look. This morning, I decided to pair my peplum blouse with this lovely floral panel pencil skirt and my purple Coach handbag my husband got me last year.

What do you guys think about the trend? Are you a fan of the peplum trend?
