THE FLORAL MINI

It's that time of the year again when I have to go through my closet and get rid of the things I don't wear anymore or that I've worn too much. I love this process because I get to declutter and I also find things hidden in my closet. I was very happy to find this little gem, it is quite old and is also one of my "college finds" from good ole Forever 21, so before I got rid of it I decided to give it one more spin around the block. I originally paired it with a polka dot pastel top, but really wanted to keep the attention on the skirt so instead I decided to wear this peplum top, last worn here. I hope you all have a great weekend!

ABSTRACT + WHITE

When I'm looking for something easy to wear to work, my go to outfit is a dress sometimes paired with a cardigan or a blazer. This dress is quite old but still one of my favorites, I purchased it from the sales rack at Forever 21 in the fall of 2009 and wore it to my Athletics Department graduation party in December 2009, since then I have worn it countless times and it has never failed me. Considering the quality of Forever 21's clothes can be hit or miss, this one is definitely a hit! I love the abstract brush stroke looking print on this dress, it's colorful and bright and it's all me.

TURN ON THE BRIGHTS

I have mentioned before that I don't have a favorite color, and that's true, however I do have a soft spot for a few colors and orange is one of them. Not only is it one of my alma mater's colors (Go Broncos) I've been told it's a great color on me. One of my favorite color combination is orange and pink, the colors together are so summery and cheerful. I love colors that compliment my skin tone and all these colors together do just that. I can't tell you guys how much I love anything bright and my closet is not short of it.

ANGELA & ROI - HANDBAGS WITH A PURPOSE

Hi everyone, I hope you all had a great weekend. For those of you that know me personally, you know how much philanthropy means to me and how much I support brands that gives back. Last week I was contacted by Angela, co-founder of Angela & Roi who introduced me to their high quality vegan handbags, vintage inspired with a modern touch. With Angela & Roi, fashion meet philanthropy; with every handbag purchase $5 is donated to a  chosen non profit  organization based on the color you choose. Different medical issues relates to specific colors, for example YELLOW represents child cancer therefore, if you purchase any yellow handbag $5 is donated to Childhood Cancer Awareness.

There are so many beautiful handbag on their site, I am still pondering which one to purchase, even though it's quite impossible to go wrong with any of these handbags. So here's an idea, if you are in the market for a great looking, high quality handbag head over to Angela & Roi, you will have a variety of styles (totes, shoulder and cross body) and not to mention colors to choose from and you will be supporting your cause. Check out their website to read more about the causes they donate to as well as their drool worthy handbags.

MODERN RETRO

Why Modern Retro you ask? Because this dress reminds me of the 1950's, the pin dots / polka dots, the gathered swing skirt, fitted waist and square neckline, all remind me of a time I wish I was swing dancing. But since I didn't exist in that time period I can add a little modern twist to a classic style. I also decided to go with red lips (my all time favorite red lipstick is Mac's Ruby Woo) which is so 1950's pin up and truly timeless, classic and elegant. I wore this outfit to work with my Zara sandals instead of pumps because I wanted to add that modern twist to a retro looking dress.

MULTI PRINT

I am sure all the women reading this post, can relate to my story. Friday night as I was getting ready to head to dinner with my husband I kept repeating "I have nothing to wear" which I tend to say every time I can't decide what to wear; sometimes until I convince myself that I actually don't have anything to wear, which is far from the truth.  It was still a bit hot and I wanted something light and cool, after rummaging through my closets I found this dress that I bought in Miami last December that I have only worn once. It ticked all the boxes on my comfort list and the multi print definitely makes it a statement piece.

SUMMER BRIGHTS

Hello lovelies! So the temps here have definitely gone cray, cray! I have never been this hot in my life! Well life might be pushing it but holy heat! It also seems like everyone is experiencing the heat; my family in New York and Louisiana, my friends in Idaho, everywhere, this heat is not playing. Anyway, on hot days when the temps hits 90's borderline 100's I always reach for a light and cool outfit. Cotton dresses, shorts, skirts and tank tops in the coolest, lightest materials always does the trick.  Yesterday was a holiday here and I went out for a bit and as usual opted for a cool outfit.

Remember by previous post on color blocking HERE,  this outfit is another example.

I hope you all that are experiencing the heat, are staying cool and don't forget to wear your sunscreen :-)

ISLAND FLORAL

I am sure by now you guys have figured out that I love florals and pairing them  with various other prints. I love this particular floral print because it screams "Island," it's bright, bold and represents one of my favorite flower. The hibiscus flower is quite possibly the most beautiful tropical flower there is and can be found anywhere on this little island or any island for that matter. I couldn't pass up this top when I spotted it at H&M, the print reminds me so much of my childhood. For this casual look I decided to pair my hibiscus top with a striped cardigan and dark blue jeans.
